Thigh Lift

Like other body lifts, a thigh lift tightens the skin of the thighs and removes excess fatty tissue and skin. The results are taut, more attractive legs and restored confidence to wear shorts or a bikini again. A good candidate for a thigh lift is one who recently lost weight and has excess skin on the inner and outer thigh areas. Liposuction may be used to enhance the result.

Thigh Lift

Thigh lift surgery recontours the thighs, removing excess fat and skin. The skin of the thighs can become loose and sag due to weight loss and age. Sometimes the thigh area doesn’t respond to diet and exercise. A thigh lift can help reduce this excess skin and fat.

Consultation

Dr. Oser's cosmetic consultation is an important step in the process of considering aesthetic surgery. Dr. Oser and his staff are committed to helping you become well-informed about the actual process of preparing for a thigh lift.

Dr. Oser will meet with you and determine if you are a good candidate for a thigh lift. Many patients who are interested in a thigh lift may have lost a significant amount of weight through diet and exercise or weight loss surgery. Sagging thighs can also be a result of aging. This can result in excess tissue in the thigh area that can be uncomfortable, unsightly or prevent clothes from fitting properly.

Other services may be recommended in combination with this procedure to ensure that you have an optimal surgical result.

Consideration

Candidates for a thigh lift have usually already tried diet and exercise as a way to reduce fat on their thighs. Excess skin does not always respond to these methods. You may have trouble finding clothing that fits properly and feel self-conscious about the appearance of your thighs. If your health is good and you have reasonable expectations, you may be a good candidate for the surgery.

Preparation Before Your Procedure

Three weeks prior to and three weeks after your surgery, try to limit your alcohol and tobacco intake. Two weeks prior to and two weeks after your surgery, do not take medication that may thin your blood such as aspirin or ibuprofen products.

The Evening Before Your Procedure

The evening prior to your surgery, please refrain from eating or drinking anything including water. Please do not smoke and check with Dr. Oser regarding any medication that you are taking regularly.

The Day of Your Procedure

Please refrain from wearing makeup, contact lenses, hairpins, jewelry, body lotion or perfume. Wear comfortable clothing. If you develop a cold, sore throat, fever or any symptoms of illness before your surgery, notify the office.

Please prepare to have a responsible adult available to provide transportation after your procedure and have arrangements made for any necessary assistance you may require for the following 24 hours. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must accompany you.

Medial Thigh Lift

A medial thigh lift removes tissue from the inner thighs. An incision is made in the groin area and extended downward. Excess tissue between the groin and knee is removed and the skin is recontoured. In some cases, liposuction may be used in conjunction with this procedure.

Lateral Thigh Lift

A lateral thigh lift removes excess tissue from the outer thighs. This procedure is more complex because it often requires the removal of tissue from both the thigh and buttocks, as well as recontouring of the areas.

Recovery

Bruising, swelling and redness is common after a thigh lift. Dr. Oser may use drains in the surgery site, depending on necessity. You will be instructed to wear compression garments to aid in healing. For the first two weeks, limit your activity and rest often. Swelling should subside in three to five weeks but heavy lifting and jogging should be avoided for six to eight weeks.

Results

While results may vary, a thigh lift can give you the confidence to wear shorts or a bikini again. Many patients enjoy a tightening of the skin around the thigh and an overall more youthful appearance to their legs. The results of a thigh lift can last long term, as long as you maintain your weight and take care of your health

Dr. Oser may recommend complementary services to maximize your desired result.
